Yesterday on double half day charters, we landed a great eating Wahoo for Ken and Laura Kinsella from Alberta, Canada and their children. It went on their BBQ that night. On our afternoon charter, we landed two Wahoo and released a 175 lb Blue Marlin after a 30 minute struggle for Rick Myers from Sacramento, California. The fishing is good now and should just improve as our summer fishing begins in earnest. Reserve now to confirmed the day that works best for you.

Wahoo and Spearfish dominant the fishing in Kona right now…along with a few Blue Marlin. We have caught Wahoo most every day this week along with a few Spearfish. Missed one huge Blue Marlin a few days ago. Blue Marlin in Kona during May are much bigger than our summer fish…although there aren’t as many. Summer Blue Marlin average about 175 lbs and during May, the are at least double that. A typical May charter is to go for Wahoo for an hour or so, then change over lures and go for Spearfish and Blue Marlin. May is beautiful weather in Kona, about 84 degrees, flat calm seas and huge fish.

As many of you who follow HighNoon Fishing Charters blog know by now, there has been tremendous interest in the photo I took a few days ago of a giant Tiger Shark attacking another shark that was hooked up on one of your lines. We were live baiting and hooked up about a 150 lb Silky Sand Bar shark and were fighting it when we saw a huge Tiger Shark estimated at 17 feet long and over 1500 lbs following the smaller shark. Before we could grab leader and release the smaller shark, the Tiger came from beneath the small shark, put it in it’s mouth and came out of the water. I was very fortunate to get this unusual photo:

Scott Harmon and his friend Nathan from Kenai, Alaska had a very unusual experience today. While live baiting with a 5 lb. tuna, the tuna was eaten by a 150 lb shark which we fought to the back of the boat. We were going to release it, however we say a huge shadow trailing our hooked shark and before we could grab leader, this huge Tiger shark appeared and grabbed our shark while hooked on our line. It bit it once, let go…and then began circling the boat. As we got smaller shark near the boat and grabbed leader to release our shark, this huge Tiger shark estimated at 1500 lbs. lunged at the smaller shark and we got this very unusual and lucky photo at the moment it ate our shark. What an experience!!

Yesterday, April 16, was lots of action but a little hard luck on HighNoon. Heading out to the 1000 fathom line in the morning, we had a long corner strike on our new hardhead lure. While we watch this 400 lb Blue came in again, viciously hit the lure and came off. Disappointment! About 20 minutes later, in the same area, another huge Marlin hit the short corner and took out about 500 yards of line with white water everywhere as she jumped and jumped and jumped. After 40 minutes, we got the fish near the boat, then she charged toward the boat, jumping all around the boat, and finally threw the hook back at us just as we were going to release her. All in all, a fun action filled day with big fish!
