Five Mahi and two Ono on HighNoon today

Long time client, Dan wanted to take out some buddies and catch something to eat. So they booked High Noon for a three quarter day. They wanted to target dinner fish so we stayed close to shore and did just that. Five minutes out of the harbor we were hooked to our first mahi mahi which we boated and continued to get lucky the rest of the day. For the last two hours we went out to the deep in search for a big blue but couldn’t find her. We spent the last half hour swimming in the crystal clear water of Kona. All in all a great day on the water with awesome people.

Wahoo for Ono’s!

Steve , wife Berlinda and his kids Ellen, Emma and Luke joined High Noon for a fun filled family fishing trip off the Kona coast. Berlinda was first up to bat and she landed her first Wahoo thirty minutes out of the harbor. Then we pulled in all the lines so we could catch some small bait fish for everyone. Kids had a blast. Time was running out and on our last pass of one of our favorite spots a couple of Ono were there waiting for us and we took a double strike and caught both. Everybody caught fish which makes for a good day. Great job team!

Blue Marlin for Richard on High Noon

Richard along with his father Bruce booked High Noon for a half day of fishing. The men had fished a few times before but were in search of marlin. The bite had slowed down a bit but told them to don’t give up on us and that we were gonna stick to our guns and work one of my favorite spots. At about 9:30 our short bait starts taking a little line but nothing major. We thought we had a spearfish on and could take things a bit slower. We got Richard settled in the chair and then the fish went nuts ripping line and doing one heck of an aerial show. Fish calmed down and we had the fish to the boat in about 10 minutes. Great job on a catch of a lifetime Richard.

Nice Wahoo and Spearfish on High Noon

High Noon was double booked with two half day charters.   Mike wanted to catch his daughter a fish so we decided to stay close to shore and target Wahoo. The group started to lose hope when all off a sudden the long rigger comes crashing down and we were on. Before Mike’s daughter could get into the chair, Kaitlin stole her Moms’ seat and started the battle. She ended up landing a nice 25lb Wahoo. Photo below:

Second trip started out with honeymoon couple Andrew and Teresa. All Andrew wanted to do was catch a Bill Fish.   So we headed off shore for the elusive billfish. We worked one of our favorite spots for a while and just as we were about to head back to the harbor we hooked a spearfish on the stinger. Andrew did great job bringing it home for picture and let it go to swim another day.

367lb Blue Marlin & 104lb Ahi

Ayako and husbad Masahiko from Tokyo, Japan booked High Noon for a
10hr charter today in search of a big blue marlin. We started out the morning by catching a few bait fish for the day just incase the trolling bite was a little slow. We only ended up catching one small bait but that was enough. We set out to find a marlin but happened to stumble across a porpoise school, which tunas are know to hang out with. Captain Trevor made a quick live bait tuna set up and quickly bridles the bait fish and sent it out to see what would happen. Not a minute later we were hooked into a nice size yellowfin tuna. Boated fish for happy customers. We had no more bait so set back up for trolling and not more than an hour later we raised a beautiful marlin that ate our stinger and put on an unreal show. Great day with really happy clients all the way from Japan. I’m sure we will see them again soon. Aloha!
