Ray book HighNoon for a morning 3/4 day trip I’m hopes of putting his son on a few Hawaiian fish. Ray is a long time skipper from Seattle fishing many years in Alaska for Black Cod and many other species. He new fishing wasn’t always a guarantee but we assured him we would do our best to catch his son a fish. We put out the lures and made a few passes on one of our favorite points. After a few passes our long rigger comes don’t a mahi mahi takes to the air. We get his son in he chair and he starts the fight. Just feet away from the boat the mahi does one final jump and throws the hook laughing as he swims away. Bummer. We set back up and catch some bait fish which we had a blast doing. We then put a few live baits out in search of a monster. Our baits would not be in the water for two minutes before getting hammered but somehow we just couldn’t get one hooked. After going through all of our baits we set back to troll home when our stinger comes down and we boated a nice Ono for them. Ended up being a great day.
Anna and her family booked HighNoon for a 3/4 day fishing the beautiful waters off Kona. Of course everybody wants to catch a marlin but being this time of year the marlin bite has been a little slow. We opted to fish shallower waters in search of mahi mahi and wahoo for the grill. Pass after pass they were starting to lose hope when finally a nice 25lb Mahi crashed on our long corner lure and instantly on a beautiful aerial show. Big smiles and high fives all around. Beautiful day on the water with wonderful family and friends.
Paul and his wonderful wife Beth booked HighNoon for a full day of fun fishing off the Kona coast. They only arrived the night before and had hopes of catching some dinner fish for the week of them being here. We had a plan and we stuck to it. We started out catching some live baits in hope of finding some Mahi at a few buoys throughout the coast. At the first one we found a nice cow, at the second we managed to get 3 more which all we good size. We fought all the fish on stand up light tackle which made for a great fight and a great day on the water. We also saw some Sperm whales which I personally have never seen before. All in all we had a great day with wonderful people we hope to see again.
Newlyweds, Derek and Lauren Payne from Riverside, California chartered HighNoon today early on their honeymoon in Kona, Hawaii. As with many newlyweds, they got lucky catching this nice Mahi Mahi which is going on the grill tonight at Three Fat Pigs which is a world renown restaurant located in the Waikoloa area of the Kona Coast of Hawaii.
Our best wishes for a great dinner tonight. Have a great Honeymoon!
Randy Lint and his wife Jen along with their son Owen and daughter Elle booked HighNoon for a 3/4 day of mixed bag fishing. Dad really wanted his kids to catch something even if it was small. We started out the morning with a plan to troll to a buoy that has been pretty productive for us lately. Not 20 minutes into the charter our long rigger got piled on by a feisty blue marlin and we were off to the races. We quickly got Randy secured in the chair and began our battle. With quick maneuvering and great angling we had this beautiful 200 lb Blue Marlin to the side of the boat in under 10 minutes for a nice healthy release. The buoy ended up not being real good but still did manage to put the kids on a few smaller baitfish. After that we decided to head to the reef and see what we could stir up for the youngsters. Just about every drop we managed to pull up some species of reef fish and the kids had a blast. Great, well rounded day for everybody.
